Our Plan
- In Good SoilPribanic Farms is a Permaculture joint-venture project by PublicHerald.org to design a regenerative food system, and transition from conventional to organic agriculture. The project is made possible with the help of Jeffrey Pribanic, owner of the farmland. Our goal is to create an educational platform for alternative, "off the grocery" designed food systems.Pribanic Farms grows organic heirloom produce, perennial herbs, and culinary flowers. We also forage wild edibles from the farm and surrounding forest. 2012 is our first year in production; look for CSA subscriptions by 2013. An educational farm component is sponsored by PublicHerald.org.We strive to develop close relationships with like-minded local restaurants and farmer's markets who currently source from our growing list of plants:

What is Permaculture
- Care for the Earth, Care for People, Care for DiversityWHAT IS PERMACULTURE?Permaculture is an interdisciplinary study of design. It was first developed by Australians Bill Mollison and David Holmgren and their associates during the 1970s. The word perma·culture means ‘permanent agriculture’, as well as ‘permanent culture.’Permaculture design is recognized internationally, by countries and corporations alike, as a viable and pragmatic solution for creating energy descent plans; acting to balance resources, sequester carbon, and build regenerative energy supplies. It requires stepping back and looking at the complete system before turning a stone.For instance if we’re talking about a chicken, we think:

- We love being near the Great Allegheny Passage and Youghiogheny River Trail. We kinda wanna have a lemon-basil, mint-melon, honey-sage, lavendar-spice gelato stand at the West Newton or Connellsville access next summer...hmm...
